I’ve said it before, but Johnny Gat is actually a super cool character because in pretty much all Western media, Asian male characters are neutered of all masculinity, or only show case it in Eastern coded ways, (such as knowing Kung fu)
And then you have this bastard, an Asian character voiced by an Asian voice actor, who’s treated in universe as being the pinnacle of masculinity in a western sense, being gun ho and getting to be an action hero to the point he’s getting his own Doomesque spinoff game.
Like if Johnny was white, I’d probably be barely able to tolerate him, cause I would of seen him as something I’ve seen a thousand times over, but the fact he’s from a racial group that never gets to be like him, makes him super interesting. He’s literally the only Asian character outside of anime I’ve seen get to be the typical Western action hero.
